I am a neuroscientist working to find a cure for Huntington disease. I came to the US over twenty years ago to study molecular biology and genetics. I became a developmental neurobiologist with an emphasis on stem cells. I was interested in science since I was a kid and lost my mother to cancer when I was 11 years old. I want to solve difficult problems in life, while at the same time making a difference in people's lives. I want to communicate in simple terms the latest breakthroughs in science and drug development for HD. I also want to show people the struggles of scientists trying to understand life and working to develop treatments for various disorders. It is my desire that people reading this blog will learn how scientists work, and will be encouraged to speak out, to get involved in trials and education, and in demanding that special rights be given to those suffering from genetic conditions. I hope this blog will also be useful for the HD community about recent findings relevant to developing therapies for this terrible disease.
